LAURA DEWE MATHEWS ESTABLISHED THE STUDIO IN 2010 AND IN 2013 WON THE ARCHITECTS' JOURNAL SMALL PROJECTS AWARD AND THE GRAND DESIGNS BEST SMALL PROJECT AWARD FOR THE GINGERBREAD HOUSE. IN 2014 THE HOUSE ALSO WON THE HACKNEY DESIGN AWARDS. THE PRACTICE HAS SINCE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE ARCHITECTURE FOUNDATION'S 'NEW ARCHITECTS 3', A SURVEY OF BRITAIN'S BEST EMERGING PRACTICES OF THE LAST TEN YEARS.
HAVING STUDIED AT THE BARTLETT SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE, LDM HAS WORKED FOR VARIOUS PRACTICES IN LONDON INCLUDING WALDO WORKS AND BLOCK ARCHITECTURE AS WELL AS WORKING FOR PETER STUTCHBURY ARCHITECTS IN SYDNEY, GAINING EXPERIENCE ACROSS THE RESIDENTIAL, RETAIL AND ARTS SECTORS.
THROUGH A COLLABORATIVE, HANDS-ON APPROACH, BOTH DURING THE DESIGN PROCESS AND ONCE IN CONSTRUCTION, THE STUDIO ENDEAVOURS TO PRODUCE CAREFUL, TAILORED ARCHITECTURE TO MEET THE INDIVIDUAL NEEDS OF EACH CLIENT. THE RESULTING SPACES AIM TO INSPIRE AND DELIGHT THEIR USERS.
